Centre i USA, Storbritannien og Costa Rica hyldes for at reducere og omdirigere affald fra deponering

CooperVision har bekræftet sit fortsatte engagement i bæredygtighed og har opnået Zero Waste facilitetscertificering for seks globale produktions- og distributionscentre for kontaktlinser.* 1 Certificeringen, som viser, i hvilken grad driften forebygger eller omdirigerer affald fra deponering, er opnået på virksomhedens faciliteter i Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico; Alajuela, Costa Rica; Delta Park og Mount Park i Storbritannien og Scottsville og West Henrietta, N.Y., USA* 1

SCS Global Services (SCS), en international leder inden for tredjepartscertificeringer for miljø og bæredygtighed, har evalueret og certificeret hvert enkelt center individuelt, i henhold til den seneste Zero Waste-standard. CooperVisions centre opnåede certificering gennem en kombination af genbrug, kompostering, affald-til-energi, videresalg og genanvendelse.* 1

“At opnå Zero Waste-certificeringer på disse seks centre er ikke kun en hyldest til vores nuværende indsats, men tjener som endnu en vigtig sammenligningsstandard for fremskridt i vores bæredygtighedsrejse,” siger Rolando Torres, driftschef hos CooperVision. “Vores teams undersøger løbende mulighederne for at skabe mere bæredygtighed på tværs af hele virksomheden. Zero Waste-facilitetscertificeringen afspejler den seneste milepæl i CooperVisions miljøinitiativer, der fokuserer på at spare energi, reducere, genbruge og genanvende ressourcer og styrke mennesker i virksomheden og i de lokalsamfund, hvor virksomheden opererer.*† 1 CooperVisions faciliteter i Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Scottsville og West Henrietta har også de prestigefyldte LEED®-certificeringer, og Mount Park er vurderet som ”fremragende” i deres ”BREEAM®-vurdering.‡ 2,3

CooperVision var, gennem et partnerskab med Plastic Bank®, de første, der leverede plastikneutrale kontaktlinser.§ 4 Virksomheden køber igennem Plastic Bank® kreditter, der svarer til vægten af plastikken indeholdt i produktet.◊ 5 Disse kreditter benyttes til at finansiere indsamling, forarbejdning og genanvendelse af plastikaffald fra havet. Initiativet har haft en miljøpåvirkning svarende til mere end 466 millioner plastikflasker, der er blevet genvundet siden starten i 2021. ¶ 6 CooperVision tilbyder nu en komplet portefølje af plastikneutrale kontaktlinser i udvalgte lande.

¶ CooperVision, through its collaboration with Plastic Bank, to have collected and converted approximately 9.3M kg of plastic destined for waterways as of February 2025. Using Plastic Bank's metric of 1kg of plastic equaling 50 standard 202mm bottles, that will be the equivalent of approximately 466M plastic bottles not reaching our oceans.
